Relax in Seawinds
Seawinds is a place to watch the constantly changing weather roll in across the Inner Sound from the Outer Hebrides and the Atlantic. Experience all four seasons in one day.
After showers (in Gaelic: frasach), watch out for rainbows and pools of light in the water of the Inner Sound. In the evening, watch out for sunsets of all hues and colours over the contours of the Isle of Skye and enjoy the star-filled skies at night.
Seawinds
Seawinds is a recently refurbished, spacious detatched four bedroom family house decorated in a bright and contemporary style. The property occupies an elevated position in a remote coastal setting, providing stunning views across the Inner Sound to the Cuillins, the Isle of Skye and the Isle of Raasay.
Internally, accommodation comprises a large, well proportioned living room, open plan kitchen, a sun room/ utility room and four double bedrooms – two of which are en suite.
The house sits in a generously sized plot and has an attractive mature garden which is well stocked with shrubs and trees. There is also a gravel driveway at the entrance with ample space for parking of at least two cars.
Seawinds is an ideal ‘home away from home’ for up to six people.

Internally:
Ground Floor
The living room is open plan and well proportioned with large windows providing panoramic views across the Inner Sound. The room has oak flooring and features a Contura wood burning stove, a large family sized dining table, an LED TV and a Ruark internet radio.
The kitchen comprises freestanding beechwood units arranged around a central island table/ breakfast bar. A full range of modern appliances are provided including a Stoves cooker, Bosch fridge freezer, Bosch dishwasher, Dualit toaster & kettle and Nespresso coffee machine. There is also a freestanding beech larder unit which contains a selection of store cupboard items which you are welcome to use.
The sun room is lovely to sit in and watch the birdlife. It also serves as a boot room and utility room, with cupboard containing washing machine and condenser drier.
Upstairs
The master bedroom contains a king size bed and is en suite. The room is west facing offering fine views across the Inner Sound.
The second bedroom is also west facing with similar views and contains a double bed and in-built wardrobe. The third bedroom is east facing and contains two single beds.
Finally, on the first floor is a family bathroom containing bath, (in bath) shower, wash basin and toilet.












Things to do: nature
- To come to Seawinds is to connect with nature and the elements.
- Enjoy the beautiful coastal and mountain landscapes.
- Go on the many local beach and coastal walks: visit the coral beaches, or walk on the high path from Applecross Bay to Sand beach.
- Look for common seals on the small islands near Ard Dubh from the roadside viewing point at Sgeir Ghobhlach.
- Walk across Applecross Bay, watch out for abundant birdlife including oystercatchers, curlews and the white tailed sea eagle.
- Take in a woodland walk around the grounds of Applecross House or Carnach. Look out for the abundant flora growing around Loch a’ Mhullin (Milltown Loch).
- On a clear night, the sky above Seawinds and the Inner Sound is a ‘dark sky’ with millions of stars visible.
Things to do: eating & drinking
- Book a visit to the award winning Applecross Inn for a leisurely lunch or evening meal.
- Take a walk around the Applecross Walled Garden and enjoy a meal or a coffee and a cake in the restaurant.
- Eat fish & chips or one of Aron’s ices at the ‘Inn-side Out’ or enjoy a bacon roll at The Big Grill Society.
Things to do: further afield
- Drive up the coast road to Shieldaig and Torridon. Book afternoon tea at the Torridon Hotel, as featured in BBC Amazing Hotels. Torridon is one of Scotland’s most dramatic and distinctive landscapes and has recently been designated as a new National Nature Reserve (NNR).
- Visit the picturesque village of Plockton with it’s whitewashed cottages and palm trees set around a beautiful wooded bay.
- Climb from the summit of the Bealach na Ba to Sgurr a’ Chaorichain for spectacular views.
- Travel on the railway from Strathcarron to Kyle of Localsh, one of the most picturesque rail journeys in the UK.
- Visit the Isle of Raasay. Catch the ferry from Sconser and book a distillery tour at the award winning Raasay distillery, or take a walk on Calum’s Road.
- For the experienced walker, climb or trek the many munros, corbetts and valley routes in the wider Wester Ross area.
Directions: How to find us?
- We are 80 miles west of Inverness with a journey time of about 2 hours and 30 minutes, though travel times can vary due to weather conditions and also traffic, particularly on the pass.
- Applecross is served by two roads. The first is the renowned ‘Bealach Na Ba’ (the ‘road of the cattle’), a single track mountain road with hair-pin bends towards the summit. The second, longer route to Applecross is via the Coast Road via Shieldaig. Both routes run through spectacular and dramatic country.
- Seawinds is situated about one-and-a-half miles south of the Applecross Inn and Shore Street , a 5 minute drive or 30 minutes on foot.
- The Applecross Post Office & General Store is situated about 500m to the west of Seawiinds, a 3 minute drive or 15 minutes on foot.
Availability and booking:
As we prefer to handle all holiday bookings personally, it is not possible to book Seawinds online.
All rentals start and end on a Saturday, although at Christmas and New Year we alter this depending on when the days fall.

All pricing is shown at a weekly rate, Saturday-to-Saturday bookings only.
Pricing is inclusive of electricity, central heating, bed linen, towels, wi-fi and toiletries. A supply of logs and kindling will be provided on arrival. Additional logs can be bought from the Post Office.
Payment Terms:
1. Payment is by bank transfer only. We regret that card payments are not accepted.
2. A deposit of £100 is payable upon booking.
3. The balance of payment is payable one month before the reserved start date.
4. A breakage deposit of £100 will be retained and returned to your account within 48 hours of departure.
5. Cancellation: If you have to cancel your holiday up to a month before your reserved start date, we will refund your deposit. However, if you cancel within a month of your reserved start date and we are unable to resell that week, then a charge of 50% of the total rental due will be payable. You are strongly advised to take out holiday cancellation insurance for this reason.
